There’s more to North American wine than California. While California dominates production on the continent, I wanted to check out the wine regions of Canada and Mexico for our North America wine guide, as well as some of the classic wine regions in the USA on both the east and west coasts.

USA Wine Guide: California, Oregon, Washington, New York
The US is one of the world’s largest wine producers and is also the world’s largest wine consumer. The most important wine state of all is California – the land of milk, honey and Cabernet. For California, I focused on the Napa Valley as our 80 Harvests region, but also visited some of the lesser-known wine regions around the state.
In Oregon, it had to be the Willamette Valley, and as a Pinotphile I was quite happy to discover the differences between all the micro-regions while talking (and tasting) with winemakers and producers from north to south Willamette.
Up in Washington, the area of focus was that renowned red-wine territory, Walla Walla. However, I didn’t shirk from trying other wines from the many different regions and microclimates and we have plenty of winemaker interviews to give you an insight to Washington beyond Walla Walla.
Over on the other side of the country, New York’s wine scene seems a whole world away. The deep glacial Finger Lakes provide the home to some of the best Riesling and light wines in the US, and I also visited the Maritime wine region of Long Island.
There are lots of different categories to click through in the USA edition of our North America wine guide, so get click happy following this link:

Mexico Wine Guide (Guadalupe)
Mexico was the first wine country in the whole of the Americas. It beat the USA, it beat Chile, it beat Argentina, it beat them all… Wine production has continued ever since the 1500s and the wines are beginning to achieve greater acclaim as more people venture down to the delicious wine region of Guadalupe Valley.

Canada Wine Guide (Okanagan & Niagara)
Canada is considered a fringe wine region, on the very edge of sensible. However, with the growing effect of climate change, Canada’s once considered crazy winemakers are looking smarter by the minute. And the wines can be fantastic. Lean, refreshing and quintessentially cool climate – Canada is one of the most exciting wine countries today.
I visited both of the biggest wine regions in Canada – British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley on the west coast and Ontario’s Niagara Valley on the east coast. Discover the difference in our:
