Mario Geisse is one of the winemakers that has really made Brazilian bubbly sparkle. Geisse was originally hired by Moet & Chandon in the 70s to start up the sparkling wine production for Chandon Brazil, and he has been making bubbles in Serra Gaucha ever since. As well as making his own wines for Cave Geisse, his family winery, Geisse is a consultant for many other producers in the region, in particular Pinto Bandeira.
Amanda Barnes interviews him about the history of sparkling wine in Brazil, what makes it so unique and special, and the sort of styles you will find today.
Editor’s Note: The interview is in Spanish, it is subtitled in English.
