Uco Valley terroir & its potential for worldclass Chardonnay with Luis Reginato

by Amanda Barnes

Mendoza in Argentina has always been known for Malbec, but that isn’t the only grape variety that does well here. The Uco Valley is the up-and-coming region of Mendoza and there are some worldclass Chardonnays emerging from top producers, such as Catena Zapata‘s White Bones and Whites Stones  Chardonnay. Amanda Barnes interviews winemaker and Head Agronomist at Catena Zapata, Luis Reginato about why these vineyards in Gualtallary are particularly suitable for Chardonnay. We talk terroir and taste from the soil pits!
