Itata valley in Chile is turning heads for being one of the most unique in the country. Winemaker Marcelo Retamal for De Martino winery is on a mission with fellow Chilean winemakers to keep the old vines and not lose this precious resource of Chilean wine heritage. In this interview with Amanda Barnes he explains Itata terroir and why the region is special, what are the characteristics of Itata and why we need to protect this treasure trove of old vineyards.
