Almaviva wine, terroir and vintages: An interview with Michel Friou

by Amanda Barnes

Almaviva is one of the most famous and valued wines in Chile, we interview Almaviva winemaker Michel Friou about making the wine, about the terroir in Puente Alto, and about all the vintage variations of the last few years as we taste through a series of different vintages. We also talk about how the conditions of Maipo compare to other parts of Chile and the world, and what varieties work best in this part of the world.

I tried Almaviva last year at an event in New York. Really top wine.

I second that! Almaviva is a top wine, definitely one of the best I have ever tasted from Chile.
