The history of Malbec & Argentine wine with Laura Catena

by Amanda Barnes

Laura Catena comes from one of the most important winemaking families in Argentina, so she knows what she is talking about when it comes to Malbec. In this 80 Harvests interview we discover where Malbec came from and where it is going in Argentina.

Laura’s father Nicolás Catena was a pioneer of high altitude Malbec in Mendoza with the family’s Catena Zapata winery. Amanda discusses with Laura the different wine regions in Mendoza, the styles of Malbec and clonal selection, as well as the past and the future of Argentine wine.
